Pithoragarh-Uttarakhand


Pithoragarh lies in the eastern part of uttarakhand.This place oozes with natural beauty and serenity.The beautiful town is surrounded by dense forest and is located at a height of 1600 mts.During the regime of 
Chand dynasty in Kumaon it was a major role player in politics.Pithoragarh has Tibet on its northern part 
and Nepal on its east direction.Pithoragarh is also a starting point for pilgrims going to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

How to reach Pithoragarh
Airport-Naini saini is the airport at Pithoragarh.It is not a commercial airport.
Train-Tanakpur is the nearest railhead at a distance of 150 km.
Road-Pithoragarh is well connected with roads.

Pithoragarh fort-A fort built by the gurkhas .
Kapileshwar Mahadev-A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva away from city inside a cave.
Dhwaj Jayanti temple-A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Jayanti.The temple gives a 
glimpse to the scenic view of the valley and himalayan peaks.
Askot-Situated at a distance of 54 km from Pithoragarh.This fort has been the centre of activity of 
Katyur dynasty.The fort has dense foliage around it and waterfalls adding to the scenic view.
Thal kedar-A religious place worthy of visit.
